3.       Orlando No. 1 for pedestrian deaths
b.       Description of story- This article posted on the 24th is about how the city of Orlando is known for the amount of pedestrian deaths it has. It has now become the number one place for pedestrian deaths. The city is trying to combat this with stricter regulations and larger crosswalks with sidewalks farther away from streets.
c.       Description of problem- The problem in this case is that the streets in Orlando are becoming widely known as dangerous. Part of this is due to the city being a tourist hub and tourists from other countries who rent cars are one of the main people who are involved in these accidents.
d.       Who has the problem- The city-goers and the city share this problem. The city-goers are now at risk of injury or death because of this growing rate of carelessness when driving or walking by streets. The city also has a problem because Orlando is a tourism capital and if people stop going because of this they could lose a lot of money their economy is based on.

d.       Who has the problem- The company has the problem because without a good leadership base they are struggling and if the company goes under that is putting a lot of people out without jobs. The city would also struggle because many people rely solely on this bus system to get to their jobs, homes, and around the city.

  1. Hi John,

I thought the article on parent names was very interesting and is very controversial to myself because the respect of elders seems to be declining more and more each day. It is impossible to not offend someone these days because you do not necessarily know someone elses morals, etc. I think people should not be timid to speak their minds and just be able to accept insults a little more. Your set up for this assignment was very well outlined! I was not aware of how many citizen deaths there are in Orlando!

  2. Hi John,
I loved reading your descriptions of all five articles. I found the article about the pedestrian deaths in Orlando to be very concerning. Even at the University of Florida, I notice how many pedestrians are almost hit by oncoming traffic on a daily basis. I can not even imagine how many more pedestrians are attempting to cross the streets due to the heavy inflow of tourists into the area for Disney and Universal Studios.

I think that is great since I can learn a lot from your blog. I like your first news very much. It talks about the jobless rate which is most related to me, and your analysis is also very accurate. Excellent job!
